  • Render multiple views at the same time

    Here's a wild idea:

I do a lot of lookdev on assets where I need to render several different views every time I make a change, so I can see how it reacts at every angle.
It would be so cool to be able to create 4 cameras, and render them at the same time, into one image in the frame buffer, which can then be treated as any other render with history and AB wipes and color corrections and such. Best I can do right now is a script that renders the different views in succession.

It can be done in Cinema 4D, where you can use render the view of a camera in the scene as a texture in the same scene. If you apply it to a plane, that becomes a becomes a sort of live "monitor feed" from that camera. It's not perfect, it has basically the same limitations as a mirror reflection, like less effective sampling and useless render elements, but it's a nice option to have, and has other creative uses.

edit: oups, meant to post this in the Maya wishlist, but I suppose it'd be a universal feature.

Good idea man. And good job on your texture packs. Bought them a few months ago.

The "camera texture" seems like a neat idea and should not be too hard to implement, if that works for you. Will make a note to look into it.

Thank you! Wouldn't be the perfect solution, but I imagine this way would be much less work and just a generally useful addition.

No, I'm afraid; this is still on the R&D list.

Maybe you could do it with a complicated series of mirror objects
