  • Xref Scenes to work with distributed render.

Xref Scenes to work with distributed render. Ran into the problem recently. When we work on large projects, it is nice because we can have referenced scenes so someone could be working on the site, while someone else is working on the building.

Distributed render would speed up our test renders, but as of right now, we have to wait until we are finished, the merge the scenes before we can use distributed render to speed up the irradiace calculation.

works fine here. You need to make sure your xref mapping on the render slaves is correct

still doesnt work here, even when they use the same mapped network drives on the slaves. maybe the files are to big and it times out or something ?

Which V-Ray version are you using? I remember there were issues with builds before 1.5 RCs.

as mentioned above i just tried it and noticed that the build we're using here has compilation settings fubared for the spawner it seems.

Yeah, I'm aware of that; it happened when I upgraded my machine to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005; it looks fine now, after removing it.

I am using Viz 2007 with Vray RC3, and have a problem which I don't know what's causing it, but the DR is not seeing the xrefs. I've been trying many settings in Viz and can only get it to work when I merge the scene. Only the root scene shows up when I use xrefs, and some materials render alright, but others too bright. Attached is an example.

                          Regards,
                          Robert
