  • Proper orga in the Startmenue of Windows

    Hi Guys,

really would like to have a proper Programsorting and Naming in the Startmenue- especially unde WIN10 enviroment. All installations of vray are just going in one folder. all spawners, servers registerings etc. are double or more (amount af installation depending) in your Startmenue.
Why are lens analysis tool etc. double installed or in the Menue?
Win 7 was in this point much clearer. thanks for listening!

    cheers,
    Kay

Have a feeling this has more to do with Windows 10 than V-ray, and I was going to agree, that is was confusing having double entries.. HOWEVER I recently updated Windows 10 with he April update and I don't see that doubling up any more, as you can see from the screen shot

ah okay - well I will have a look with this april thing... But still wondering: looks lke you are only having Vray for one Softwarerelease installed. Having 2016 and 2018 - now comes 2019 installed, this will give the dobble entries. If Chaos Group would give them a suffix /year as ending - would be a bit better.
With the sharing tools like Filter Gen, Denoise toos etc - okay the April update might straighten it out.

My guess it that this is just as much a Windows 10 problem, as a Chaos Group one. Not really sure why you would want to have three versions of Max and three versions of Vray, on the same machine though. Say you have a scene someone sends you, that was done with Max 2017, but you use Max 2014, you can load it up in 2017, without Vray for that version, save it in Max 2014 format and load it up in 2014, where Vray is installed. Vray for Max 2016, Max 2018, Max 2019 even, all work the same way. So unless you have one full version on the Max version you use and are testing the beta on another version of Max, I really can't think why you would want more than one version of Max installed.... and I hate the start menu anyway, hardly ever use it, except to create shortcuts.
