  • Texture Anti Aliasing Issue

    Blender version: 4.1.0
    Vray for blender build: 6.20.00

Noticed a problem with Anti Aliasing on a pure black and white png that I need to use for masks on a car paint.

In Blender Cycles it renders fine:

In Vray for blender it almost looks like it's a low resolution. If the edges are blurred it is fine, only if it's a pure sharp edge.

I've tried experimenting with different bitmap settings but nothing seemed to fix it. Is this a bug? I've attached a test mask, but you can also create your own.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to try this out on my end and report back to you. If it's a bug, we will look into it.
Can you give me some more information about the render settings? Did you change something in the antialiasing section in the Render Settings > Sampler tab, and are you using the Progressive or Buket sampler for the final render?

I have not changed any settings, it's even visible if you create a scene from scratch, with a plane and the texture.

Just tested and it seems to be affected in both bucket and progressive

Noticing now that it looks like textures might be loading in at a lower resolution, rather than a AA issue.

This is a different scene, and it's seemingly affected by the same problem

Hi INK_WORKSHOP I know it's been some time since the post was created, but I'm curious—were you using V-Ray GPU when rendering this scene?

Hi. yes, I was using Vray GPU when I encountered this problem.

In that case, I can confirm that you are correct. It's actually a problem with the bitmap resolution on V-Ray GPU, and it has been reported to the dev team already.

                Hi INK_WORKSHOP,

I'm glad to inform you that the bitmap resolution issue you reported has been fixed and implemented in our latest build (number 177). Please test it and let us know if everything is working correctly on your side.
