  • Bump map multipliers questions

    Hi,
I've some questions about bump map multiplier as it seems working in a way that I can't understand if it's designed like this or it's a bug.
CPU engine (but seems that GPU is doing the same)
Normal map attacched to a VrayNormal node attacched to the bump map slot of a VrayMtl.
    Bump multiplier at 0

The image is correct, the wooden floor is smooth.

Now..if I set the Bump multiplier to 1 and set the Bump Map Multiplier to 0, the wooden floor is not smooth but bumped.

and this is the same result if a set Bump multiplier to 1 and Bump Map multiplier to 100%
So, what's the use of Bump Map Multiplier?
The same behaviour if I change the TexMap Multiplier of the VrayNormalMap node (the slider near the texmap input)

    Hi bardo,

    Thank you for spotting this.

The UI for the Bump Map and Coat Bump Map inputs is showing a widget which allows blending the texture input with a fixed color value. The Multiplier on the right side is actually the blend factor (I guess we could come up with a better description too). This is not appropriate for these inputs. A simple input socket for the texture without the blend factor should be shown instead. I will create a ticket for this.

In the meantime, please only use the combination of a texture attached to the BumpMap socket and a value/texture for the Bump Amount property. The same goes for Coat Bump Amount.
