  • VrayMat Reflection color questions

    Hi,
I'm testing the VrayMat features and there is something I can't understand if I'm wrong or not.
I'm referring to the reflection color with the Metalness parameter set to 0 (dieletric material).
The context is a scene with a white closed box, one white light, one camera with a neautral white balancing and 3 objects.
One of this objects has reflection material.
If I set the diffuse to white and the reflection color to green I got this
    yYWxWhG.jpg

I set the diffuse to another color (for example red) and the reflection to green, I got this
    M2Mb97Z.jpg

    Are these correct results?
The one with white diffuse seems quite uncorrect... am I wrong?

    Hey,

I think both examples aren’t physically correct since there aren’t many real-world materials that reflect colors outside the grayscale. In ray tracing, this setup is more for artistic effects than photorealism. This effect is controlled by the “Preserve Energy Mode” option in V-Ray Material, which isn’t visible in the V-Ray for Blender builds right now, but we’ve noted to add it—thanks to your post!

        Thank you.
I was suspecting that was that option but, as I couldn't try it, I wasn't certain about it.
