  • [SOLVED] No floating license error

    [Update, Dec 11, 2024]

    Hello everyone,

We have identified an issue with V-Ray for Blender that may have already affected some of you.
You may have seen V-Ray displaying a “No floating license available” error, or in some cases you may have seen a Sign In dialog that wouldn’t do anything.

The issue is now resolved and the V-Ray for Blender beta build has been updated to address the issue.

If you have been affected by this, here's what you need to do to apply the fix:
    1. Download the updated build and install it.
    2. Start Blender
    3. Go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons and make sure the V-Ray add-on is loaded (you can ignore any errors or dialogs at this time).

    4. Set V-Ray as the active renderer

    5. Go to the V-Ray menu > Chaos Account and sign out.

    6. Go to the V-Ray menu > Chaos Account and sign in again.

    7. Restart Blender

Thank you for your understanding and we hope you enjoy the beta.

    Hi everybody,

Some users may be experiencing an issue where V-Ray for Blender returns an error dialog "No floating license".
In some rare cases you may be prompted to sign in repeatedly and it still won't run.

This is now a known issue and we're working to resolve it. We'll post an announcement once we have a solution for this.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Stay tuned for updates.

I'm not sure if this can be marked as "Solved". In my case nothing has changed, I still get the message, it still redirects me to the "organization" tab on the Chaos website, where V-ray for Blender is not available in any way, despite the fact that I have it in "licenses".

adam_radziszewski joe_henton Could you go to Add / Remove Programs in Windows, search for the Chaos Unified Login app and make sure that the version it reports is 2024.10.17?

Could you check that you have the following processes running?

And also, could you copy or screenshot the contents of Blender's console window after you click the Sign-in button?

OK, You can run them from Windows' start menu - 'Start Chaos Unified Login' and 'Start Chaos License Server'. If they appear in the processes list, try to run Blender again.

Are you by any chance looking at the Processes tab in Task Manager? I was referring to the Details, sorry about the confusion if this is the case. Under Processes, these look like:

Could you then copy or screenshot the contents of Blender's console window after you click the Sign-in button? Just make sure to restart Blender first so that all info from the V-Ray startup sequence was visible.
