Old beta topic is deleted.

Changelog:
• 2.49.7:
[list:2ldku3cj]
• 2.49 - required Blender version (2.49a actually)
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• 7 - month of release
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]

[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
Objects:
• Particles with object as Visualization type (also supports Empty with attached proxy file).
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• Text, Curve, Meta, Surface support without convertion (without smoooth by now, will work correct only after 2.49a)
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]

[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
Animation:
• Animation system is fully rewritten
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• Geometry export for animation use less memory
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]

[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
Blender controls:
• Fresnel reflections (activated if "Fresnel" > 0.0 and its value is used as Fresnel IOR).
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• "Tralu" slider (Fog color mult) fix (now behaves right, so, for example, 0.05 value is good)
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• "Mir" color controls only fog color
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• "Spec" color controls mirror color

[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• "Anisotropy" slider support
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• "Alpha" slider doesn't affect refraction now! Refraction is controlled only by "Col" and can be turned on/off by "Ray Transp" button.
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• No need to call texture "IBL" - just put a texture in Hemi texture slot.
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• "Stencil" support
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• Multiple UV support
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]

[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• On "Shades" panel - "TraShadow" means "Reflect on back side", "Shadow" means - "Affect shadows" (info here http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/ ... params.htm)
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• 2sided translucency is now controlled by Amb slider

[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• Percentage render size controls (100%, 75% etc)
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]

[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
Script controls:
• Python data is now linked to object's datablock (this is for automatic value changes for instances), so use this script only for new scenes or redefine all values.
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• Too much problems with Output path so it's moved to Autosave option (dont affect animation!)
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• Too much problems with Thread so I create my own control.

• Renamed controls: render active layers is now "L", "A" - render animation
[/*:m:2ldku3cj]
• M - manual export control useful for animation (for example, you don't need to reexport animated nodes if you only change material)

Very cool thanks!!! lots of things to check.

One note. I had a problem that it was rendering all black. I had to especify the dof of my camera in blender. Now the render is ok.

This only can happen if you use DOF and if you use DOF you should specify DofDist (focus) anyway =)
Ok, I'll add check for DofDist=0.

Strange, it seems that my previous reply didn't appear ...
So hope this will not be there twice.

Thanks Andrey,

Great to see so many new features.
I may be wrong but it seems that during export the active layers flag (L) is not taken into consideration anymore, everything is exported.

Only for materials, but I'll optimize material export a bit more.

Re: V-Ray/Blender 2.49.7 RC

Couple of things I've noticed.

Displacement is spelled wrong on the render tab
When I click the "Detail enhancement" on the GI tab, I get a console error.

Other than that it seems fine at the moment.

One question though - what the Material Override for ? and has anybody got any tips on using it ? I'm still very much a noob with VRay

You can override all materials in a scene.
Normal render:
normal.jpg[/attachment:meq1q35p]
You can override all materials to:
Wire:
wire.jpg[/attachment:meq1q35p]
Dirt:
dirt.jpg[/attachment:meq1q35p]
Color:
color.jpg[/attachment:meq1q35p]
Metal material from scene:
mat.jpg[/attachment:meq1q35p]

Thanks to Bertrand Benoit for model to test =)

Updated:
• Fixed Gradient on background (same as Blend in Blender)[/*:m:meq1q35p]
• Added Affect background control in Color Mapping[/*:m:meq1q35p]

The Displacement button on the render tab is spelled Displacemert.

Thanks for the info on the material override. Dunno how much use it'll be for me but always fun to play with

Seems that you use "Internation Font"= On so all fonts are smoothed. Try to turn it off to see that it is spelled ok =)

what should I write in the GI file save place?
When I write the path, it will show error every time in console.

The scene is rendered black, I can't find out why - could you have a look.

I used the default Blender opening scene, file attached.

Light changed to sun and set sun in the exporter, camera set to physical. No DOF used.
