Question (or rather advise needed): When rendering interior scenes with the default material settings (and setting Alpha low and reflections values to say 0.7) interior glass takes very long to render. I have reduced the count for Depth (refelections); any other suggestions?

Using alpha for glass is incorrect.
Use white refraction color + proper IOR + fresnel reflections (+ optional fog color for some volume effects).
