  • >50 hours of light cache calculating - 2SIDED_Tulle

    Hi!
As at header - I have a simple scene with a tulle in front of 3 windows.
There wasn't any problems with 1 window - light cache calculating take some minutes, but with 3 (2+1 perpendicular) this time increased to 50...
Of course, I can`t wait so long.
    Can anybody help please?
P.S. I want to get something like with yaf-a-ray.

Hey Yaroslav, nice to see you here =)

Ok, I'll show a little workaround for this (anyway I request some explanations from Chaos Group, because some time ago this happened because of adaptive_sampling=on in LC and now this happens even with adaptive_sampling=off).

Here is a final image in 10min 32sec (I slightly change light setup but anyway).

So the trick is pretty simple: add GI override material to curtain with Alpha=0.0. To do this create a Cube, place in somewhere off the camera, add material with alpha=0.0, then enable Override in curtain material and choose GI override material.

Re: >50 hours of light cache calculating - 2SIDED_Tulle

      ...not simple and logical...
Hope now U understand me - it wasn't standard question.
Anyway - thank U very much Andrey!
      P.S. Any solution for 2.49?

And one more thing... I'd try to render some simple static animation in vb 2.5 (only flying camera), and set GI like in vb2.49 but found, that Light Cache mode Fly-through works in different way, that in 2.49... It's bug, or some change?
      Thanks one more time.

Yaroslav_L, its pretty logical - if you know that alpha cause smth with GI and you know that vray has an opportunity to override smth for GI you could find such a trick yourself - as i tell you a lot of times - vray has no magic button - you still need to learn, read docs and tutorials.

This will be much easer to help if you describe what is the difference you found.

Re: >50 hours of light cache calculating - 2SIDED_Tulle

I mean, that in 2.49 we was set IM = Incremental and LC = Fly through for only camera animation.
In 2.55 that settings gives another result - with very poor GI.
The first 2 frames of anim was rendered with "Single frame" mode for IC and LC.
The second one with "Multiframe Incremental" for IM and "Fly through" for LC.
