A common methodology these days is to use Render Elements to output 32-bit image files for:
- Diffuse (Color)
- Specular
- Reflection/Refraction (if necessary)
- Shadow
- Z-Depth

Hi,

yesterday i tried rendering the ZDeath channel with the maya demo. And i only get black pictures. do anyone else have this problem?

StieMO, may be you need to tweak Black/White dist?

i am wondering if it is possible to render out object matte's? for example i have a room with a table and a chair. i would like to render out a black/white image where the chair is white and everyhing black.

First of all change objectID that is different to 0, for example 1


Then add a new channel, called ObjectSelect and assign ID

Object select will show actual object in this pass. If you want a mask you should use MultiMatte.
