  • Thinking about buying VRay

    Hi@all,

first of all i will say big Thanks for this Projekt Andrey.

At the moment i´m in a internship as an 3D-Artist and work with Max and Vray 2. MY mission is to infiltrate them with Blender . but i need Photoreal renderings, so here u come in.

Which version of Vray work with your Blender Build, and how far is your projekt pipeline ready?

      thanks for the fast replay.

i found this one http://shop.vray.info/rendering-engines ... alone.html there is no information about the version? Which one is it?

Vray Maya demo works fine, i tested it a few months ago.

          Re: Thinking about buying VRay

Here is v-ray standalone 1.5. I think most people here use 1.5sp1; I haven't seen anyone here mention RT or 2.0. Chaosgroup has a beta program for vray for maya 2.0, but right now you should stick with 1.5. I have updated the FAQ. You may also need to pick up a license dongle (~ 35EUR/50USD). Contact the reseller for info.

I'm using V-Ray Standalone 2.0 =) Basically you could buy 1.5 (if 2.0 is not available) and then request nightly build access from ChaosGroup and get the latest Standalone build.

Do you get realtime feedback? I imagine it will be something you'll have to develop into the script and blender if it is possible, but that would definitely be cool for adjusting materials and lighting on the fly!

No. I need to code a lot to make this possible...

And btw its also called 1.5, but has 2.0 core.
                Code:

Cool. My opinion is that real time would be great, but there are other more important things to fill out core functionality.

                    Re: Thinking about buying VRay

                    hi there,

i have purchased vray standalone 1.5 version, now i am buying the upgrade to 2.0, i was reading somewhere the following:
vray for maya / standalone can use 10 machine or rendernode with one license as distributed renderer - is that right?
Would it mean that i can install my standalone vray up to 10 machine and use it at the same time?

                    Thanks for your help!

Current policy is different - no.
Afair, you could use 1 or 2 machine as rendernode.

                        Hi bdancer,

thanks for info, thats enough for me

I couldn't figure this out alone... all on the vray website was 10 - so this means only with maya. Thats fine with me!

I was working for few years in an office with 3ds max+Vray, now i made the switch to Blender+Vray.
Since i am freelancing now, its way cheaper.

all the best, keep up the good work!

i purchased the update to 2.0 - i got this error [2011/Dec/23|22:30:28] error: Could not obtain a license (10061).
Which version should i download from chaos group?
I have wibu key and everything...

                            thanks for help!

vis4arch, I guess you need to upgrade your dongle to 2.0 license - contact chaosgroup and they will guide you how to do this.
