  • Save LC + IM map for animation

    Hi guys,

I'm rendering one very simple animation (cube, plane and camera rotating around) and I'm saving LC and IM map to understand how it works to use it later. Right, I'm following this tutorial (http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/ ... _imap2.htm) but isn't working for me. Using Fly-through mode, Vray seems to calculate just the camera view, not the entire scene. Even with camera path isn't working here... Is there something that I'm missing? It's already implemented? Thanks! Windows XP 32 bits.

    Best,
    Victor.

I would suggest using BF + LC for animation, it's simple and fast for undestanding without saving LC and IM map.
The basic setup will be fine

Fly-through is created to calculate just the camera view/animation. Its used only when camera is moving.
If you want to use "Camera path" option you should use it in Single frame mode.
Anyway, both in Fly-through and with "camera path"=on vray will not show (with Show calc phase) LC calculations for all frames, just the first, but will actually calculate everything as it should.

Re: Save LC + IM map for animation

@cooler_inc, with "to understand how it works to use it later" I mean "understand how it works the process to save these maps to use it in a bigger animation" I need to take minimum time to render an animation, so save GI maps seems to be a better idea, but thank you!

@bdancer, thanks, but I still can't make it works I turn off secondary bounce, using just IM for now. In IM, I used incremental add to current map with camera path on and then toke some renders to cover the entire scene to make sure that all samples are calculated. Saved this map, choose from file option, then turn the camera to another view and I didn't get what should be, It seems to save just the last camera view GI's map or seems that i'm using single frame option. Same happens using light cache.
This image was rendered using incremental add to current map: http://i.imgur.com/jUZsw.jpg
This one was using from file: http://i.imgur.com/k7cQi.jpg
        Am I doing something wrong?

incremental add to current map with camera path on
I'm not sure its a good idea to use them together. As I already wrote use camera path in single frame mode.
I do the following with correct results:
          1. Turn on "calculate gi only"
          2. Calc gi in "incremental add to current map" and "fly-through".
          3. Switch IM and LC to "From file".
          4. Render animation.
          Looks fine for me.
