  • proxies instances etc...

    Hey,

    I'm curious what the best way is to duplicate objects inb relation to rendertime. Trees to be specific

    when I duplicate a (complex) tree twice my render is faster then when I create a proxy and place that twice. Also, when I create two instances by duplifaces it is also slower then placing two real entities. In the blender internal engine this is the otherway around.

    Are duplifaces working in the exporter or is there something I'm overlooking?

    Thanks in advance for any tips!

    best,

    wim

    RAM:
    up to 5 - Alt+D (to be effective inside blender (less file size, quicker viewport))
    up to 100 - Alt+D (to be effective inside blender (less file size, quicker viewport)) + enable "Dynamic geometry" option in mesh "Options" panel. With "Dynamic geometry" even up to 1000, but depends on total RAM and rest of the scene. Basically behaves the same as proxy, but proxy even less RAM consuming. Its also recommend to use "Dynamic geometry" with "heavy" particles or duplis.
    1000 and more - VRayProxy is the only way to prevent fauls when not enough ram.

    Speed (higher -> faster):
    - "Real" mesh (alt+d or shift+d doesnt matter)
    - Alt+D + "Dynamic geometry"
    - VRayProxy

    Just choose the combination you need.
