  • Vray for Mac problems

    Hi there,

i just would like to know, if other macusers have the same problem as i have...

    osx 10.7.3 - vray for maya 2.20.01 - maya2010_leopard 32bit - blender downloaded of git

    1. VFB is not usable for 5-10 seconds after the render is finished, so i can't press "track mouse" or "sRGB" while rendering, have to wait 10 seconds ( i believe i that i didn't have this problem with 1.5) which build should I use, but i think i tried all versions, either i don't see the VFB or it making this waiting thing

    2. how do I setup distributed rendering? the second mac did render (just black squares) failmessage was telling me emtpy scene...
i choose (unix-unix) and shared the folder via the sharing option (afp and smb) what should be the rights for the folder (i gave full access to all useres)

    3. are no world settings anymore? i remember that i had them once

i saw this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8fDLPJzLT8 when will this be possible? would love to use the x64 and not having the problem mentioned in 1.)

would love to use vray on osx!

p.s. its a hackintosh but i tried it on "real" macs too, same problems

    all the best,
    philipp

    1. This goest to chaosgroup.
    2. Now you have to mount this shared folder on the other mac.
    3. You mean preset?

do you think, that they will ever fix it?

      3. You mean preset?
i'm just stupid... i was looking for that in the world settings... but it is under the scene settings...

      2. No you have to mount this shared folder on the other mac.
i believe i did, but is it important that there is the same version running? (i mean it is 2.20.01) but on the other mac it is x64 maya 2012...

      thx for the quick response!

        Re: Vray for Mac problems

I believe same version is a good idea anyway =)
Also check is you have for example /render as DR folder on master machine - it should be mounted as /render on slaves.

          Re: Vray for Mac problems

now same version is installed 2.00.4 darwin, for maya 2010, this is the only on on which the VFB is working...

          Code:
          [2012/Feb/12|03:24:51] V-Ray Standalone EDU, version 1.5.01 for x86
          ...
          [2012/Feb/12|03:24:51] V-Ray core version is 2.00.01
the distributed still produces black squares, and on the slave machine the terminal is telling me "empty scene"

i shared the folder "render" which is directly on my harddisk on the main pc, the folder is mounted [attachment=0upc2rfl]Screen Shot 2012-02-12 at 3.27.47 AM.png[/attachmentupc2rfl] ...

i gave the folder full access to everybody...

what am i doing wrong? i start the slave (/Applications/Autodesk/maya2010/Maya.app/Contents/vray/bin/vrayslave) either with terminal or just doubleclicking...

little snitch is turnd off... any suggestions?

          this is the log:

            Re: Vray for Mac problems

            Try the following:
            1. Create /render directory ("/" means system root, right on Macintosh HD)
            2. Use it as DR folder in Blender
            3. Share it using SMB with "VBDR" name for example
            4. Create /render directory on slaves
            5. Mount shared dir to /render dir from command line:
            Code:
            mount_smbfs //username:userpass@IP_or_name/share_name /dst_dir
            For example:
            Code:
            mount_smbfs //user:pass@192.168.0.2/VBDR /render
