  • VRay Normal Map Dark Edges

    Hi

I'm having some trouble with normal maps.

    This is the BI render:

and this is the vray render:

Maps are set to tangent. Tried changing the mode with no luck. Also tried tweaking the amount but the dark edges always stay.

    Thanks.

      Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?y1y702nmgto1b6r

Btw, I disabled the other bump maps and got better results (I just found out normal maps and bump maps don't work together) but the dark edges are still there.

      Thanks.

ok, the problem is the normalmap, infact I test the same scene in 3dsmax and I achived the same result. I tried with a simple plane and the result is quite smooth. I dont know why in blender internal everything works different.

Re: VRay Normal Map Dark Edges

Then, how do I bake normal maps that are compatible with VRay?

Edit: Another strange thing is, whenever I put a plane underneath the object the edges darken slightly in BI. This is just getting more confusing.

dunno, but your normalmap follow exactly the geometry, so, meabe the problem is related to that..
