How to use .png alpha?

I was never able to directly use the png alpha in a mapping. So I always use a mask in the first upper texture with 100%opacity in the influence panel, then the diffuse, the nmap ... Don't know if that will help.

Hmm, ok. As alternative I found the program http://www.xnconvert.com/ to quickly extract the alpha channel and save it separately for heaps of images.
