  • Distributed Rendering and Animation

EDIT: I've decided to borrow a computer from a friend and try it myself, I've answered my own answers (Vray 2.3)
    Hello there.

V-ray allows you to render images using up to 10 machines at once, at the moment I don't use this feature, but I'm planning to make an animation (fly-through) and I'd like to know if it's worth the effort and how complicated is to do this. A: It's easy peasy actually, once you have the network working.
1-Does it calculate LC and IM distributed also? A: Yes, it does.
2-Does it find the bitmaps automagically? A: Yes, it makes a copy on a subfolder.
3-If the time to export an image is let's say 10 sec, will it take 300*10s to export a 300 frame anim? A: If you're using "Full-Range mode" yes, otherwise no.

    Thank you in advance.

Take care with bitmap sequences (movie converted in sequence of jpg, tiff, etc...), it will export only the first frame of the sequence. To resolve this, you can copy manually all the bitmaps of the sequence in the shared folder/textures. For the single frame bitmap there are no problem.
