  • [Solved] EXR: Am I missing something?

I don't know, probably I'm doing something wrong.

If I save a vray render in exr format and I load it in blender to do some colour correction, I see that all the part of the image that exceed the 100% white is cut.
    You can see here:

But if I load the blender internal render I've all the informations as it should be. See here:
    Uploaded with ImageShack.com

I don't understand why the HDR images outputted by vray are treated as LDR images, is there some hidden preference?

Re: EXR: Am I missing something?

Disable "Clamp Output" under "Color Mapping".

Re: EXR: Am I missing something?

Thank you for your reply, but "clamp output" is always disable, and for this it is very strange....

P.S. Congratulations for your new job. Today Vray-blender is a gret piece of software, but I'm sure that it will become a VERY great piece of software.

Re: EXR: Am I missing something?

Looks fine for me, try updating the exporter, there were recently some bug found with exr saving (or try saving from V-Ray Frame Buffer manually).

Re: EXR: Am I missing something?

Just updated (bdancer-vb25-969c255.tar.gz), but the result is stille the same.
Very strange. It's the same also if I save from the VFB (more strange!).

I attached the blend file, maybe it can be usefull (http://www.hanaishi.it/files/exr_test.blend)

            P.S. I think that in file render.py there's a bug: line 1833
            Code:
            log_window.append("-e")
doesn't work in my jessie, but if I move after line 1828 all goes right.

Thanks for checking log window stuff, will fix it.
About your issue - Exponential mapping also clamp values a lot (thats why its exponential =), use Linear to archive what you want.

It's true! Good to know. A vray teacher told me to use "exponential" when indoor, but now it's a thing to evaluate carefully in case of exr.
                Thank you again!

Yes, not a great bug tracking, just a suggestion

He is not wrong actually, but if you want to control exposure manually in post you have to use some linear mapping.
