  • Network rendering

    Hi guys

Can anyone help me with network rendering ? So far I render with 3ds max, but it seems its little bit different with Blender. How can I setup rendering, because i didn't find any tutorial or such?

So far I have one computer in a network (we "see" each other), and both are using windows 7.

    thanks in advance

    Re: Network rendering

I'm not sure how to do it in the latest build, but I remember doing this in the 2.4x version:
    - Set up a workgroup and a shared folder (Windows. I do not know how in Mac). I used an old network switch. You will use a computer as master and the rest as "nodes".
    - Install vray in every node (mandatory). I also copied all files in the same directory tree in every node (might not be necessary now).
    - Open vray as slave in every node.
    - Setup the "Distributed rendering" panel in V+B in the main station (Scene panel). Just add nodes accordingly (PC name/address).
    - Render from main station and let the nodes do their work. You will see each render tile with the name of the node.
    - Coffee time.

Final render is saved in main station.

Nevertheless, I do not know how to do it in the new 2.6x builds. I only have a single station now...

Yes, in 2.6 it is no necessary, because in the main node there is a shared folder where each node reads the render files.
In the image below you can see the global parameters of the DR rendering.
When you will open the render slave in the nodes, you have to make sure that they work on the port 20207 (Vray slave tells this as the last shell line "waiting for render requests on port xxxxx").

Oh, yes -I forgot the Port part.
Thanks a lot, Worufu -I'll give it a try one of these days.
