OSX Mavericks - vray renders the scene, but image won't show up in blender

  • OSX Mavericks - vray renders the scene, but image won't show up in blender

    Hey,

    I've got the latest vray 2.4 build for maya 2014 (standalone of course) and I can see that blender renders the image fine (it's present in the tem directory and it also writes the file correctly if I set it up). But it won't show in Blender's image editor. No VFB either, wether I use the 32 or the 64 bit build of blender from your repository. I'm currelty usign blender version 2.68.5 and here's my log:

      V-Ray Standalone 64bit doesn't have V-Ray Frame Buffer on OS X (only 32bit version). You could try using feature "Render Feedback" under Exporter panel - this will load image into Blender while rendering, but it still experimental. Always use Output panel to save the final image.

        What is the issue with the framebuffer in OSX? Is it a work in progress at Chaos or an integration with blender kind of issue? What are the appropriate channel to ask about this issue?
        Also I noticed that the custom builds for windows are way more up to date than the ones for mac... are the source files available if I was interested in learning to build it myself? I might never know enough to do it, but I'd like to give it a shot...

          Framebuffer issue on 64 bit OS X is still a work in progress related to some third party libraries, hope to have some results very soon. Anyway I've checked a yesterdays nighlty build for x86 and VFB work fine there.

          Custom builds for mac are currently broken due to some blender libs issues and I believe BF guys will fix it very soon (have some IRC session with them yesterday). Anyway there is a possibility to build it yourself.
          Check this tool - https://github.com/bdancer/vb25-patch/wiki/autobuild

          You will need to install XCode with Command Line Tools, git > 1.8.4 and python > 2.7.
          Then basically you will need several command:

          Code:
          mkdir ~/build
          cd ~/build
          git clone git://github.com/bdancer/vb25-patch.git
          python vb25-patch/build.py
          Then you'll have your build under "install" subdirectory.

          Anyway first I have to check if BF guys fixed the build linkage (or check why this linkage fails more deeply).
