  • OS X framebuffer issue - is it working for anyone at all?

    Hi,

I have been trying to get a working framebuffer on OS X without success today, can anybody confirm that the framebuffer does work at all on OS X with recent versions of Blender?

From what I read, it will not work with 64 bit versions of V-Ray, but even with the 32 bit version (2.20.01) I am not having any luck. The license server runs, rendering works, after having created a symlink material previews work as well but despite the Display VFB option being switched on, the frame buffer just doesn't appear. I've tried various V-Ray versions and various Blender versions (both 64 and 32 bit) but feel that I'm not getting anywhere.

If anybody has a working configuration on OS X 10.8, I would much appreciate hearing what exact versions of Blender and V-Ray you're using - in particular when experimenting with render settings, seeing the framebuffer would help a lot.

Of course right after posting the previous message, I got things to work using the Blender/V-Ray 2.68 build (either 32 or 64, both work) and V-Ray 2.00.04.

Still, I would be interested to know if anybody using a more recent version of V-Ray has a working framebuffer on OS X.

Thanks for clearing that up, I'll stick with version 2.00.

I think it would be good to mention that the 32 bit version of V-Ray 2.00 is the only one that has a functioning framebuffer on the FAQ (Errors) page under the "No V-Ray window on Mac OS X" section.
