  • Texture Mapping

    Hi,

    I was wondering if there is a way to control texture mapping. On more recent w7 64 bit including the one from 21st november, the object based mapping stopped working (using an empty to control scale a placement). I assume this is related to node materials, but there doesnt seem to be a way to control the mapping method.

    Anyone got any ideas? I think it may still be in development, but the most recent build this works in is a 2.68 build from the downloads page. If it is a bug, is a blend showing what i mean needed?

      Hi Andrei, Thanks for the reply.

      I attach a test which illustrates what I mean. The file rendered with 2.68.1 on and old version of the exporter works properly:

      The latest build / exporter shows that object mapping does not work. I deleted the UV's object mapping cubes, as it was using the UV maps instead of the Object mapping I had set it with:

      Thanks so much for all your work. Really am looking forward to the new features. The nodes are great already, just can't use them as object mapping is broken.

          yikes! I just updated a few minutes ago - and proxies are not loading. Tried the same scene with 2.67 version and rendering fine.

            andybot_cg, could you please create a separate report and post scene + error log? Cause I was checking proxy recently and they were working.

              sorry about that. Now there is no problem. I wonder if it was just an issue of a restart after the exporter update? Yes, will do separate thread for new bugs

                Hi Andrei,

                Just came into the office tonight to update to Vray 2.4, and was pleased to see your reply. Thanks for the quick response, but after I pressed 'update exporter' and restarted blender, the problem remains, as described in my post. Should updating the exporter have fixed it? Also, I noticed that with the nodes, it appears that there is no way to control mapping method, as this panel disappears when 'use nodes' is checked.

                  ockelford, nodes are not supported in this version. Updating exporter should fix the issue. Please check if update went without errors and check if you have several exporters (under user settings at C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.69\scripts\addons and in V-Ray/Blender installation directory).

                  Update function fixed, but now you have to update manually... or you could edit utils.py according to this https://github.com/bdancer/vb25/comm...d24efddda175bc and then press "Update Exporter" =)

                    Thanks Andrei,

                    Sorry to be difficult, but I can't find any of these files, which is strange. I have a SSD for C:\ and my User directory is on E:\Users\....... etc. Where exactly would the utils.py be?

                        Tahnks Andrei,

                        That's fixed it. I had to run blender as Administrator, as it wouldn't update the exporter without that, but it works great now.
