  • vb_30 Texturing Issue

Not sure if this is a bug or not. I'm posting here, anyway.
So, I've been working on this little project. I have a texturing problem.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/56dvwa5xk9...oblem.zip?dl=0
That's the zip with the blend file and a couple of textures.
Ok, so, the Arroway Concrete 026 texture, and the crappy looking wooden flooring texture both render fine. They show in the mat preview fine.
The HQ Arroway wood flooring will not. I cannot find a difference in the files that would make that happen, that I know of.
Any suggestions? Is this a problem with me? Could it be the texture? I have unwrapped the ground plane it will go on, and used Named Channel node. Still no go. Like I said, the concrete works fine. I'll continue to work on it.
    Thank you.

All textures are working fine for me. Try resaving them using some image editor, may be it'll help.

I exported the HQ from the GIMP and it worked one time, then blacks on me.
I'll try again in the morning.
Thank you, bdancer. And thank you again for the help with displacement yesterday.
Once I get this texture thing worked out, I'll be able to knock this project out and I'll share some nice renders.

What do those errors about overbright, etc., mean? And what do I need to do about them? And what does VRay do when that happens? I'm trying to understand the renderer completely so I don't have to ask any more questions.
        Thank you.

Those messages simply warn you that some materials in the scene have produced over-bright / invalid colors. In most cases this will not affect the render in a bad way, but if you experience troubles with invalid colors that you can't, say, composite afterwards, then there might be something wrong.

Ok, so looking at the previous file I uploaded a link to, the problem seems to be with the glass, I'm guessing. I'm trying to figure out if I'm the problem (as it seems to be, always), and if so, what I can do to avoid this in the future.
Is it because the glazing has a light bluish refraction colour with a slightly green fog colour? I'm trying to replicate commercial glazing as close as possible, thus the configuration. If that's not a good configuration, I'll change it.
            Thank you for the help.

Usually you should not see such warnings. As far as I can see the R value for the some materials is negative. I tried rendering your scene, but I didn't get those messages. What V-Ray version are you using?

3.0 for Max. VRay is VRay, so the Maya version is no different, correct?

They are the same, but we do make changes from time to time. It is possible that your issue is fixed since the official Max release, need to check against that.

Is there something I can do to help? Is this up to you to break down? I totally want to help with getting VRay smooth as butter in Blender. Let me know what, if anything, I can do and I'll be glad to.
Thank you for looking at my issues.

Quick question about textures, since we're on the subject.
OK, so bump/normal and VRayDisplacement values are measured in world units, correct? Alright, so if I have Blender set to use Imperial units, does VRay compensate and perform in Imperial units? Honestly, that detail I'm not sure about.
                      Thank you.

I'll have to look at your scene again the first chance I get to try and see what's causing the invalid color errors. Will write back asap. Thank you for your patience.

On the subject of your VRay version, can you tell us the build number / date ? You can get it from the first lines of the render log or if you start the standalone vray in a console and type in vray -version.
