  • Render channels black again - v2.40

I suffer from the same issue as described here:
    http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...fuse-etc-black

Now, I have an educational license and therefore can not simply upgrade to Vray 3.0. In addition, I can not access any earlier versions of vray either (except 1.5, but that seems a little too old...). So, my questions are:

    1) is there any solution known to get these passes with version 2.40?
    2) Where can I get earlier versions of Vray? Do I need to contact support for that?

    Thanks in advance!

Sry, but I can't reproduce this atm...
    1. What is your exact V-Ray version?
    2. What are the exact channels that are black?
    3. Could you try the recent nightly build of 2.x version?

You could find your exact V-Ray version by opening Blender's console window (Window -> Toggle System Console) and pressing Render; here is the 2.x version I've tested with:
    Code:
    [2015/Jul/1|17:42:56] ===============================================
    [2015/Jul/1|17:42:56] V-Ray Standalone, version 2.45.01 for x64

I have now tested which renderchannels available from the Color channel node do not work. Most of them work as expected, but the following ones seem problematic:
Diffuse, Real Color, Color, Material ID
Diffuse is mostly black and shows colors ONLY for objects without any materials assigned to them. The other 3 channels are all completely black.
I have ticked Color Mapping and Filtering for all of the channels (AA unticked but doesnt change anything anyway).

      1) Here is my system info from the console.
      Code:
      [2015/Jul/1|20:11:58] V-Ray Standalone EDU, version 2.40.02 for x64

      [2015/Jul/1|20:11:58]
      [2015/Jul/1|20:11:58] Build from May 14 2014, 17:43:00
[2015/Jul/1|20:11:58] Compiled with Intel C++ compiler, version 14
      [2015/Jul/1|20:11:58] Operating system is Microsoft(tm) Windows(tm), version 6.1, Service Pack 1
      [2015/Jul/1|20:11:58]
      [2015/Jul/1|20:11:58] V-Ray core version is 2.00.02
      2) See above.

      3) Where do I find them or how can I access them? In my download section at the chaosgroup website I only find the version I'm using currently.

"Diffuse", "Real Color" are working fine for me, "Color" should probably be removed (I'll check why it's needed), "Material ID" will work only with "Material ID" node applied in the material node tree.

        3. Contact our support for the access.

Ah thank you very much. I did not know that you have to add a Material ID node. I checked and the Material ID pass works as well.

I have contacted support regarding the nightlies access. Maybe I can try that with another version of Vray then.
