  • VFB and linux gnome

It's not about vray for blender but frame buffer on linux I use it with blender and vray standalone
and I don't know where else to post.

I use mostly gnome (version 3.22 at the moment) on my workstation.
I did use KDE's plasma and many other DEs and WMs but I stick to gnome and what I've noticed is that unlike on plasma,
on gnome the VFB's dropdown list from where you'd choose different render channels is inoperable.
The only way to select and actualy switch to another channel is to click on the list which makes it roll out
then select an item from that list - and here is the hack-around - rightclick on the vfb background wich triggers bg color selector and when you exit the bg color selection the selected chanell shows up in the vfb.
Otherwise it won't. Selecting from the list does nothing. Tested on multiple gnome versions from 3.18 to 3.22.
    On plasma it works.

I am aware that few people care about linux especially as a desktop. Sorry

I use Kubuntu, for me strange behavour is that mouse wheel does not zoom in and out VFB, for that purpose i have to use + or - keyboard keys, but that is usable

You should be able to use PageUp and PageDown keys after clicking on the image in the VFB in order to change the currently displayed render element.

Other than that, will try to see what's going on but it's somewhat difficult for us to make sure everything works across all the different Linux configurations :/

      Best regards,
      Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
