  • Scene crashing during render- help needed

Hi there, I have an issue.
When I render this new scene of mine of an office interior, it crashes all the time. It used to work fine, but now something went wrong. I use my old Vray 2 here in the office too, so keep in mind that it's not a vray3 related question. I attach a screenshot of the error message (it's in hungarian saying that vray stopped working properely and windows shuts it down). Could you please help me out with this, it would be pretty important to find a solution as sson as possible, thank you very much in advance!
I can share the scene also if it is a must, but it contains lots of proxies which won't be in the scene then...

    regards,
    Zsolt

It's impossible to help without the scene - could you send it to me?

Also please post your V-Ray version. You could check it in Blender's log window (top menu -> Window -> Toggle System Console), it'll be the first lines printed after the render starts.

      Hey!
Thank you for your fast reply! It seems I've found the buggy object it was a vrmesh in a proxy, without it it seems to work, I've recreated the object it is ok yet, so sorry for the false alarm.
But anyway as we're speaking: you asked for the vray version number (even though it is not needed now as the problem seems to be solved) I'm a bit confused about it. Vray framebuffer says in the stamp that 2.00.02, on my chaosgroup dowload page it says 2.25.01 ADV. I've downloaded and installed that one, but vfb says that he is 2.00.02. I'm curious now that which one is the real version number (that I should send you next time)?
Thanks again for your fast reply, regards,
      Zsolt

          Hi!
Unfortunatelly still crashing, I've sent you the scene in an e-mail. Please help me out with it, I would be very grateful!

There are some missing proxy files, but scene renders fine for me. Probably, you'll have to upgrade your V-Ray, 2.x is very old anyway.

Well thanks for the help again and the info. Which version did you render it on? 2.x or 3.x? I'm changing things, proxies and still failing to render
About the update advice: is the fact that vray 2 is older than 3 means it shouldn't work on current PC and windows enviroment? (I am not being sarcastic, I really don't know if older software have problem with newer surroundings)

try to separate object in different layers, and hide layer after layer, until it starts to render without crashing, one time i hade this problem, and crashing problem was object with texture that was broken, I mean image that was not fully download or during saving in USB stick dot completely downloaded, and when i hit renderbutton, blender was started to export, but when vray opened that file and started to load meshes and textures, that broken teksture crashed vray and stoped rendering in the midle of loading textures operation, maby you have the same problem.

The 2.x versions aren't that old that they won't work on current windows. I think the issue raised is that there is no more support for 2.x versions of Vray if there are bugs in the software. Like Stugys says, once you do some debugging on your scene and find what's broken, you should be able to use vray just fine, regardless of the version. When I last used a 2.x version of Vray, it was very stable, so it is likely there is something corrupt in your model file.
