      Re: vb25 - material tests

      Hello!
      After reading http://www.cg-files.com/vrayglassmaterialtutorial.html
I'd try to make Glass_Clear material in vb2.55,
but get error when Refraction glossiness set to 1.0. When I change it to 0.99 - everything OK.

        Re: vb25 - material tests

        Hello
I've tested the file right now on mac with vb255 (vb build 33429) and the latest exporter - seems all is ok.
Do you use special build etc? isn't your renderer has self changed into vray -material preview in renderes tab?

I suggest You to copy and post It also on problem section - it will be more noticable for bdancer.

btw. here's another one tut about that:
        http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray/vr ... liquid.htm

        and some others glass tests:

          Re: vb25 - material tests

I'm on ubuntu 10.10. Script was updated with git pull command.
          V-Ray - demo.
vb 255 33552 build by me thanks to bdancer reccomendation https://github.com/bdancer/vb25-patch/wiki/
          ...
          And one more thing. Here:
          viewtopic.php?f=8&t=418
          I was read:
"Using alpha for glass is incorrect.
Use white refraction color + proper IOR + fresnel reflections (+ optional fog color for some volume effects)."
But there are no transparency for me with alpha=1.

            Re: vb25 - material tests

Here are the vb builds and those for ubu have different number:
            https://github.com/bdancer/vb25/downloads
            - i don't want to make You wrong if Bdancer gave you that 33552 build so its probably best.

You get none transparency with alpha=1 and refraction color set to white ?
            - this is strange maybe your depth number is to small (works similar to yafaray's one)

and turn on affect alpha and shadows in refraction

              Found!!!
"Compatibility mode" was turned on!!! This option is only for old V-Ray versions.
              Now everything is OK!!!
              SORRY!

                  Re: vb25 - material tests

I was found, that in some tutorials there are falloff texture in reflection slot (water or another hi-polished mats).
Has anybody some experience in it?

                  FB300 please - look here

                        Re: vb25 - material tests

                        Thanks Yaroslav for the link.
I must read more about that because I dont get the difference beetwen using falloff and the gradient.
Anyway vray falloff works right now and procedural blender falloff/gradient don't so maybe it is worth start using it right now.

                        fe. aniso - using gradient:

                              Thank you for your tests!!!
It helps me a lot to understand V-Ray Material.

                              I really appreciate it.
