      Re: human skin

the render that i posted was rendered in blender with vray and SSS.

i used one diffuse map,SSS map and bump map.

the diffuse map was inside the SSS color multipler and the SSS map inside the scatter radious multiplier i dont know if this is the correct order.

        Re: human skin

        those are my texture maps.
        -SSS(to control where SSS is)
        -color
        -specular
        -bump

where do you connect the textures?

          Re: human skin

i have been readin about the diffuse slot in the sss2 shader. from what i understand its meant to be for dirt, skin make up,dust,....

its not meant to befor the diffuse color of the skin. but for things that are on top of the skin.

            Re: human skin

i like to work with linear workflow.

here is the skin rendered with GC 1.0

here it is with GC 2.2

to much SSS around the nose right?

              Re: human skin

              Nice tests,
Im not an expert but yes sss looks a little too strong with gama 2.2 (anyway with 1.0 is practicly unvisible)
Tab with the textures was rewriten last week so probably no one tested it with sss.

As In some book about max/vray - for sss you should have lwf enabled.
btw. Probably scale of the rendered object has also influence on sss effect.

Im going to make sss tests again next weekend.
So i should problably then have some interesting conclusions

                Re: human skin

Haha, my settings stink. I used to used POVman, and had a very nice skin shader written in Renderman shading language, but I made the switch over to Blender/Vray and just have had a devil of a time with mat settings out of Blender. Used Blender for years but mostly just for modeling so I never bothered getting into the mats. I'm trying the SSS and getting the scaling setting right seems to be the key, but beyond that, forget it.
