I am creating an object using a 3D helix curve as a path, and a closed polygon curve as the bevel shape:
(The cube in the scene is real geometry)
If now I use the small closed polygon as bevel curve for the 3D helix shape, I get:
but the helix does not appear in the render:
Though, if I convert the helix to mesh using Alt+C:
now the helix does appear in the render:
but it means that is not possible to modify the path or the bevel shape later on, since this data is not available anymore after converting to a mesh.
Why the helix does not appear in the render unless it is converted specifically to a mesh (Alt+C)?
Is this a limitation of VRay? Or there is a way to render the helix without converting to a mesh?
