  • Some requests

    Hi again

I don't know all the available functions in VRay but I guess all of them are not already implemented in the script so if those are relevant it would be nice to have :

SSS option (seems that a fastSSS function is available in VRay, not sure it is in the available beta version, maybe in the CVS one)
Shadow BIAS in the light options, this could solve some shadow issues
I saw a fur function in the available plugins, I may be wrong but if it's true, it could be cool to use for carpets
It would be nice to be able to save settings in a menu list, mainly to easily switch between test and production settings

I don't think to anything else for now but I'm sure I'll have other requests later on

Enrico, is about the Shadow Bias... Do you have a simple scene to show me how important this parameter is? I can't see logic in this parameter!
Or if you not have a scene, just explain for me?

    Thanks!

      Hi Victorphellipe,

First of all I do not have much experience with VRay, I started using it some days ago for the first time so I'm far from being a specialist and many of my problems probably come from my misunderstanding. So regarding the shadows I have two main issues, the first one is the fact that sometimes objects seem to be floating because they don't seem to cast any shadow or because the shadow doesn't start from the object but it is at a relative distance from it, such problems are often linked to shadow bias issue, but I'm not sure the solution shoud be found there. The second problem which does probably not have anything to do with that is the difficulty to get deep shadows with spot, lamp and area lights, they are too soft and produce flat images.

SSS is already added, but its impossible to control it properly, because options are too different.

---> Is there a way to just activate it without control it, it may already provide some result ...

No, no Vray fur in the standalone yet. But they have something called atmospheric fog, which sounds quite sexy for exteriors... Never seen it in action though.
