  • Vray 5 with Team Render

Does Vray 5 work with C4D Team Render at all? It's super convenient for certain things. Thanks!!

Hi Brian3D, V-Ray 5 for Cinema 4D does not work yet with Team Render, but it is in our roadmap to add support for it in the future. We will keep you updated.

Will it work even without Vray standalone license like the Corona system?

For all rendering V-Ray requires a Render Node license (per machine), this will include the Team Render in the future as well.

i would love to know about team render integration. This is one of the more importantt features why we can't make the upgrade.

                  Hello akos_kiss,

V-Ray doesn't support Team Render yet. This is on our to-do list and will be implemented in the future. However, currently, we cannot provide any specific timeframes for that. We will let you know once we have any updates on the matter. Thanks.

This is a pity and in other forums a reason to continue not to use vray anymore or not to switch to vray5. It has no future for us neither, because we earn our money with animations. I don't understand why you don't prioritize this.

                      Hi Oliver,
you still have the standalone and other systems for that. TeamRender is nice for animation (and “free” if that matter) and I still like to have that option so I’ll be happy if they will add that in the future(I guess is only a matter of time).
That being said performance is bad in my experience, when rendering animations with Corona using TeamRender I loose almost 50% of my PC nodes performance, so regardless if you use Vray or not you may still want to look for alternatives if you want to get the best out of your hardware

                        Hi Sirius,
We have 12 rendernodes and Teamrender is the best solution to coordinate and render animations for us. Do you know another solution for these case? DR did not work for single images because of the long preparation time before the rendering starts ....

                          Hey oliver_kirstein ,
as Alex Kasabov stated above it is in our to do list to add support for Team Render. There are some things that we need to do before we start adding it. It's not as simple as just start working on it but we need to do some preparations as well. There are a lot of things that we need to take in to consideration before start working on it. Take Chaos Cosmos as a simple example. We need to make sure that Team Render understands those assets and their location on the disk to make sure they're transferred correctly. It wouldn't make much sense and wouldn't be optimal if we added support for Team Render then introduce Chaos Cosmos and then start working on team render again because we need to add support for Cosmos there.

DR did not work for single images because of the long preparation time before the rendering starts ....
It would be great if you can share with us such scenes with details about the hardware and the whole process. We're willing to check and improve such cases and having scenes directly from the user always helps since we can profile what is causing the slowdown and improve it. If possible please share such a scene and your workflow with our support team so our devs can take a look at the case.

                          Thank you!

What about Deadline? Do I need a Cinema commandline node + vray node? or vray node only?

Deadline allows rendering with both Cinema 4D Command line and V-Ray Standalone. If you use V-Ray Standalone for Deadline you will need a V-Ray Render Node license only but if you use the Cinema 4D CommandLine then you'll need to have both CommandLine and V-Ray node licenses sine CommandLine renders with V-Ray and both licenses are engaged.
