  • OSX Spinning Wheel of Doom

This drives me really crazy - I got the hint already to disable the online license tool and "borrow the license" - but I still get quite often the so-called spinning wheel of doom - very frustrating and nearly impossible to work. I have an iMac Intel I9, 40 GB Ram ... normal scene - all materials concerted or setup new .. any further hints? This ends in crashing when working with HDRI lighting when I try to turn the dome light with the inserted HDRi.

Hi acidnoid, the spinning wheel indicates that the process is busy with something - it may be calculating previews or reading the texture from disk.
If this period is prolonged - could you try to get a spindump in the moment this occurs, so we may investigate what may be taking so long. Here are instructions how to get one (in the MacOS tab):

Also - if you think the licensing may be a problem - check if you have alternative license servers specified in your license settings. Having an alternative license server specified without an actual license sever reachable on the IP may be slowing things down.

It have the same issue here too, I'll try to get a spindump next time it happens!

If sirio76 is correct then you should try disabling materials in the c4d settings -> renderer -> VRay -> Material previews unchecked. This disables the Previews but speeds up the scene for me big time.

Yes I also experience constant Locking Up/Freezing with Vray5 and Cinema 4D.

please let me know if you find a resolve.
