  • Stochastic flakes material

If you have objects with different shapes and sizes (planes, cubes, spheres, etc) and you want uniform flake distribution on them using the stochastics flakes material - do you need a flakes material with adjusted number of flakes (based on the size of the object) for each of them or can you have one material that gives you the same look for all objects?
As reference I took the Vray tutorial by Chaos group for the snow field and the snowman where you have different number of flakes for different objects.

    Thanks

    Hello mrudolf ,

You can get a uniform flake distribution across the scene when you set the Mapping type in the Basic Parameters of the Stochastic flakes material to “Triplanar”. With this the flakes are distributed in each square unit in local object coordinates. If you set the mapping type to “Mapping channel” the flakes are mapped according to the UVW coordinates.
