VRAy 3.7 for C4D R23

Hi,

I am getting more and more familiar with VRay 5 - however, sometimes it's still frustrating - especially as I have over 100 Scenes with 3.7 materials, which needs now to be transferred. As I have an urgent project, I would like to know, if it is possible, to get hold of a VRay 3.7 install file (my old install file before I upgraded everything was C4D R19). I saw already the solution to copy on OSX the C4D folder to get two different instances - hence one with VRay 5.0 and it would be great to have one with VRay 3.7.

V-Ray 3.7 for Cinema 4D R23 and S22 has never been released and that is the reason why there are no builds for it in the download section. I'll check this with the devs and see if we can do something about this.

OK, so ... as there was no answer anymore, I decided to get Parallels installed and my old C4D R18 with VRay 3.7 - just to realize, that my license expired - and that it is not possible to renew it - hence, if I understand it correctly, you offered a free license transfer from Laublab, just to cancel in the end the license... so everybody is pushed Vray 5? - which I bought as new license - and where I need to pay for each render note separately? I am just wondering... that's not very customer friendly isn`t it? Maybe that's the reason why everybody is telling me to use the Corona Render (great render results, speed, cheap and up to 5 free render nodes) - however, I would love to stick to VRay ... maybe, let's see what the future brings.

But not offering even some free render nodes is strange, and using your cloud service doesn't make sense for a small office...

As far as I know 3.6 licence(virtually identical to the 3.7) is perpetual and provided you have an older Cinema4D version able to run on a recent OS you should still be able to use it.
About Corona, it’s indeed cheaper and comes with 5 Team render nodes (performance wise are not anywhere near 5 DR nodes though, especially for stills), about results and render speed I would say they are extremely similar.

thank you for your answer - well, what worked was to run Parallels with Mojave to install my Old C4D R18 - then I copied the folder via drag and drop back to Application in Big Sur and C4D R18 works fine now on Big Sur - which is always great, as I now can easily open old scenes and re-save them for my C4D R21 - and I am in no need for parallels. I could also install my old VRay 3.6 - however VRay loads, I can manage my scenes - but when I try to render, it crashes directly: The plugin vraybridge.dylib has crashed. - I was checking already and all folders have read & write possibilities - would be really really pleased to get it working - and meanwhile also getting familiar with VRay5 and R23.

P.s.: 2 Hours later: works - great - I am happy - finally. So now happy VRaying....
