  • HDRI Issues - guess easy to solve

    1. How do I make my HDRI in the Domelight visible in the editor?
    2. I can make my HDRI invisible in the render - hence I only use it for lighting the scene - but it affects the Alpha Channel - which I essentially need to compose later my background.

    Any help appreciated.

1 - For now, the vray dome texture cannot be displayed in a viewport. I am also waiting for this possibility. You can use the native sky from c4d for preview and then rotate the vray dome as well.
2 - You can use invisible in option. With this HDR will light the scene while remaining invisible.

Yes, that's correct, but then I do not have an Alpha Channel

        I have.
I render and save to png. Invisible HDR is transparent.
        Example:

If you uncheck the Affect alpha option in the Dome light options it won't affect the alpha channel of the final rendering.

              Hello acidnoid,

I apologize for the delayed reply.

We are considering making the HDRI image visible in the viewport in the future. We understand that it is convenient to have this functionality but currently, it has a low priority, as there are more important issues to fix and features to implement. You can easily set the HDRI by starting Interactive rendering and rotating the Dome light.
