Should I switch to V5 ?

Good day,

After installing V5 back in January, I decided to go back to 3.4 because of all the bugs. Anyone one V5 happy with it now? Should I go back to it ? Thanks.

That depends on your workflow. I am satisfied with Vray5. If I cannot use hybrid rendering because certain functions are not supported, the CPU is used to render. The time saved in hybrid rendering with Vray5 is so great that I am happy to accept some shortcomings. At the moment I find the missing alpha channels, the material preview and the loading of the textures / file as the biggest annoyance.

Das hängt von deinem Workflow ab. Ich bin mit Vray5 zufrieden. Kann ich das Hybridrendern nicht nutzen, weil bestimmte Funktionen nicht unterstützt werden, wird mit der CPU gerendert. Die Zeitersparnis im Hybridrendering mit Vray5 ist so groß, das ich gerne einige Unzulänglichkeiten akzeptiere. Im Moment empfinde ich fehlende Alphakanäle, die Materialvorschau und das Laden der Texturen/Datei als größtes Ärgernis.

I think that basically you could start producing new scenes in V5, like me.
But overall, almost nothing changed in terms of full compatibility in V5. There are still some basic and silly issues, that I'm really shocked are not implemented yet.

I definitely must keep V3.7 also, as some of the projects are not possible to produce in V5.

What kind of work do you primarily do? MoGraph? Architectural? Products?

I think 3.7 was amazing, but there is IMO no comparison in quality between the 2. Vray 5 is absolutely incredible. Much easier to use with higher results!! Our clients have even noticed the difference. Vray 5 is now my absolute favorite rendering engine!
