  • PC Vray Rendern

    Hello

If I want to build a new PC. Should rather in the CPU or GPU gehen. the rendering is more likely to go towards the GPU, right?

    1)
    AMD 5950
2x Asus Rog Strix OC RTX 3080

    or

    2)
    AMD 3960
1x Asus Rog Strix OC RTX 3080

    What is your opinion?

    Thank You!

    Netter Deutsch-Englisch Mix

GPU Rendering is obviously faster but in my personal opinion currently with Vray 5 not very stable. Currently iam working with CPU because it seems to be most stable and because of Cryptominer you dont get graphicscards right now and it seems not be better in near future.

Also the RAM Limitation of graphicscards is annoying.

Its true: if Vray 5 is stable and gracarendering is stable and you can buy graphiccards for good prices and they will have a lot of RAM: THEN I would recommend using graphiccardrendering.

But currently V-Ray 3.7 and 5 CPU Rendering is my choice.

    Best regards PdZ

      i would get a 3970x and a cheaper card, even a 3060
vray gpu is kinda buggy and the out of core dfoesnt work that well - except if you ahve simple scenes it will be def faster.
for anythiung more complex stay on CPU - fast, affordable and most importtantly stable

Absolutely right. Vray 5 seems to be most stable in regards of CPU Rendering. If you want really good graphicscardrendering at the moment: Use Redshift.
Redshift is in my opinion the best and most stable choice for gracarendering. Also its very easy to learn and extreme stable. BUT Vray is better and more versatile when it comes to big scenes and because in V-Ray you have the ability to CHOOSE what you like. Unfortunately graphicscardrendering is currently out of question because of the aforementioned reasons:
        • Cryptominer bought all cards and current cards avaiability and costs are ridiculous
        • V-Ray 3.7 graca rendering is nonexistent and for V-Ray 5 unstable. I had a lot of troubles with it.
        • RAM-Limitation is horrendous. Its only good if you are a king in optimization or you render very small scenes. But even then CPU is a better Choice right now
so in short its those 4 facts NOT TO CHOOSE GRAPHICSCARDRENDERING:
        1. Expensive/Not worth (graphicscard prices)
        2. Unstable implementation (right now)
        3. Avaiability of graphicscards very limited
        4. Ram-Limitation

Vray 5 is designed for hybrid rendering. You need a good CPU (e.g. AMD 3970X 32 Core), a good graphics card (e.g. RTX3090, 24GB) and a lot of RAM (at least 128 RAM). So you can choose how you render depending on your requirements. Not everything is supported in Vray5 Hybridrendering at the moment, but the rendering speed and quality for projects that work with your workflow is breathtaking. It's a mistake to think that the graphics card is the only thing responsible for fast rendering ... the CPU is just as important.

          Best regards

              Aha. Viele Deutsche hier

Thats right. I dont know if you really need 128 GB Ram but except that I think hes right!

I Want to emphasize that I meant that V-Ray 5 for C4D at the current moment is not stable and feature-heavy so of course in the future it IS a good option to render with graphicscard
