How can I control the location/orientation of the light texture (lightdome)? Controls seem to be missing from V5.

    Just rotate the light.

That's what I did, but I have no visual reference so it's trial & error process. Thanks.

        Hello it_refplus,

You can start the Interactive render and you will see the rotation of your dome light as you adjust it. I hope this is of help.

it is very simple. The x-axis indicates the direction of light in HDRI.

A more efficient way would be to be able to see HDR in a viewport. Interactive render is not responsive enough for now.

If you need a visible object in your scene, I'd just setup a quick xpresso (see the attached image) and just save that as a preset and reuse it. The texture slot of the dome drives the luma tex slot of the material.
You could even transfer it in python and assign a shortcut/icon for it.

I tested your dome version. Is good. Thank you, it will make my job easier.
Only why it is not implement to VRAY by default?

Thanks sirio76 for pointing out a mirroring issue (only in the viewport). Now that's fixed and I have also added a couple of other nifty controls.
Adding also a few screenshots and a short screen rec of the setup
