  • Not good looking Motion blur

    Hello,
sorry to say, but I think the quality of the motion blur looks sometimes really like a bad or cheap photoshop box blur, not that crisp like in 3.7. or what you can see in the gallery of other 3D applications with vray..
    Not at all.

Of course it could be wrong use, but I never had these problems in the past.. I tried many different shutter speed and geometry sample settings..
    Always with unlucky result..

Just like to ask kindly, is this something known internally and you will improve it in future or is this the state of the art motion blur you offer... and I have to learn it right...

It is meant seriously not ironic... thanks!

Why don’t you send an email to support? Usually they will answer faster that way

This would end up in "Please send us an example.... " "don't know what you mean, our MB is the best.. " ....

-joking, but honestly support is not really always faster...

Also interesting to see, if other users have made the same experience.. or are interested
I believe the Forum is the right place ...

How many geometry samples are you using?

Weirdly I found 7 was a number that gave me decent results. Ive been using that ever since. Itd be interesting to see a final settings render, as this one seems to be a lower quality look dev render. That would help rule out some things. But in terms of how the wheel looks blurred, I do find Vray to be pretty accurate to the real thing and am often surprised how real world photography motion blur on car wheels often can look very strange in still images, and not at all what I expected.

I usually have to either over spin my wheels or change the shutter speed of the camera to really blur and smooth out some details if I dont want them.

I will try your 7, but of course it depends also on shutter speed and moving speed of the wheels..
I can only say, I hadn‘t such problems with 3.7. and much better results, regarding motion blur.
Yes stills can look unreal, but I am talking about animations not stills and comparing also to other animations done with vray,
but different apps like Max or Maya.

I will try more and post here… thanks..

                  Hello haniel1107,

Keep in mind that not everything can be reproduced when testing with our scenes. As this could be specific to your scene, could you please send a simplified version of it (it could only be the wheel if the issue is reproducible) so we can have a look? Thanks.
