  • Is reflection glossiness really not supported on V-Ray GPU for Cinema 4D?

So Im using a computer at work with a Quadro 6000. Its a great GPU, but I spent hours trying to get my textures to look correct to no avail. I then saw that CUDA/RTX rendering doesn't support reflection or IOR mapping glossiness mapping, but this is extremely important for the work that I do. CPU rendering is like 10x slower. Am I missing something here, or is that just how it is?

    Hello akashi1,

V-Ray GPU supports mapping for the glossiness and IOR values in the Reflection channel. You can find out more about the Reflection channel of the V-Ray Material here. You can also check the supported features on V-Ray GPU here. I hope this is of help.

Thanks for the response! But I was getting consol errors stating that “reflection glossiness is not supported” and these article also says that it is not supported. What is the workaround because these are important features

It seems like you are talking about the Reflection glossiness render element, is that correct? Please note that this render element currently is not supported by V-Ray GPU as stated in the documentation page above. It is important to note that V-Ray and V-Ray GPU are two separate renderers and not everything, supported by V-Ray is supported by V-Ray GPU. V-Ray GPU supports a large portion of the features, available for V-Ray and we are aiming to further improve that in the future.
