  • what a shame...

    Hello,

i have been working with vray for about 8 years now. the further development of the software was a single catastrophe under laublab. That's why I was very happy when the whole thing was taken over by chaos group. now, after about 2 years under the care of chaos group, i have come to the conclusion that vray for c4d is a niche product which is being further developed with little passion. please excuse me, it doesn't go any further. Hardly gained knowledge will be destroyed again in the next update. with vray 5 I have longer rendering times than with vray 3.7, the material preview never worked properly, you cannot work properly in places. the new renderings are often very noisy, the gpu rendering does not work properly (but is always announced in the greatest tones, that was also the case with laublab ...), the rendering times are longer and, and, and. please don't get me wrong, i think vray is one of the best render engines, especially for architecture, but not for cinema 4d. that makes me a little sad. I will now switch to other products, as the past has shown me that things cannot really go on here and that this is quite frustrating. nevertheless, thank you for all your efforts.

    Hello @mattias_strack ,

I regret to hear that you feel this way but I can assure you that our team is working hard to bring V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D inline with other V-Ray integrations in terms of features and functionality.

with vray 5 I have longer rendering times than with vray 3.7, the material preview never worked properly, you cannot work properly in places.
Can you please share the scene in question which renders slower in comparison to V-Ray 3.7 so we can investigate further? As per the material previews issue, we are aware of that and we are working on fixing it. You can check the following post where we explain what are the current limitations and what you can try until the issue is fixed.

the gpu rendering does not work properly (but is always announced in the greatest tones, that was also the case with laublab ...)
Please let me know what are the issues that you are facing when rendering with V-Ray GPU. Also, please tell me what is your GPU model and GPU driver that you currently have installed. Thank you.

A lot of people share the same sentiment. It is a beta plugin selling at a premium price with mediocre performance developed by mediocre developers working on Cinema 4D.
Overall a poor product. People are switching now to Redshift or Corona recently purchased by chaos.

        Hello forumer101,

Thank you for your feedback. I can assure you that our team is very dedicated to improving V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D and bringing it up to speed with other V-Ray integrations. As previously mentioned in the forum, it is important to note that V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D has been completely rewritten from scratch which is very time-consuming and our developers are working hard to constantly implement new features and fix existing bugs. If you wish to discuss any of the issues that you are facing regarding the product we will be happy to give you a call and address your concerns. Should you want to do that, please open a support ticket via our contact form so we can arrange a call. Please make sure to mention this thread to the body of your ticket.

        Thank you.
