  • Will Design Connected offer 3D furniture for Vray 5 for Cinema 4d in the future?

    Hi

    Do any of you know?

Will Design Connected offer 3D furniture for Vray 5 for Cinema 4d in the future? With Vray 5 materials?
Because it is not so easy to convert them.

    thx

I asked DC for Corona- and Vray5-support in January 2021. They told me that they were expecting Corona-support "in the upcoming months" but did not have any ideas about Vray 5 yet! That DC still offers no internal Corona- and Vray5-support but supports Vray5 via the Vray Cosmos-system instead of first offering Vray5-support to their own DC subscribers is a punsh in the face of their customers. Yes, strange thing: the DC-assets available in Cosmos are not offered with vray5-materials in DC’s own asset library!

          Hey Alex!
I just received news from DC-support about Vray5- and Corona-integration for their C4D-assets. They are still busy developping a converter for Vray3- and Corona-materials for their existing library (8000+ assets). As there is no backward compatibility between Vray5 and the previous vesions, this task seems to be quite difficult and it will take more time. DC cannot provide a timeframe so I wouldn’t expect it for 2021 or early 2022!
Well, I would say it’s not so much the compatiblity that causes problems but the strange and overcomplex design of the Vray3-materials coming with DC assets... but anyhow, they have to deal with this issue and hopefully the Vray5 materials will show a more elegant design making it easier to generate and convert them.
It was interesting to hear from the support-team, that DC only offered the 300 raw-models for the Cosmos-library and that the Vray5-materials for those assets were created by Chaos and not DC. So it’s not the way that DC invested time and efford for Cosmos without offering the results to their own customers!
