I'm quite surprised to see this, but its actually nothing else then the proxy item. You get a preview of the mesh in viewport and thats it. No true import, no shader, no way to manipulated the scene. Any idea why its called import and not reference?

    Hello Robert,

With the latest release of V-Ray 5 for Cinema4D we have implemented the ability to import V-Ray scene files as reference objects, as stated in the change log here and here. We will be working on improving the import of vrscenes in the future. Thank you.

The vrscene importer in Maya lets you import shaders only. So this is helpful when making proxies later, as proxies do not contain shader. This is very important when textures are involved, as the vrscene format convert any related shaders to tiff format and imbed them, leading to quite large files, compare to proxies.
Its currently the biggest and most stressing job to bring vray shaders from one software to another, a problem that does not exits in Octane and Redshift. Huge downpoint when using Vray in a studio.

        Hello Robert,

I regret to hear that you feel this way.

It is on our to-do list to implement the ability to import materials from vrscene files into V-Ray for Cinema4D (ID: VC4D-759). I will make sure to mention this thread and I will let you know once we have any updates on the matter.

        Thank you for your understanding.
