Comparing with an 8core Intel desktop machine the M1 Max renders a bit faster, probably is comparable to a 10/12core desktop(non OC). For average stuff (modeling, editing etc)is way more reactive.
We have reversed to the old x86 build since the native universal binary Vray miss the Intel denoiser (for now), even using Rosetta is still very fast for a laptop.
Here is a test I've done, you can see both viewport and render speed on real scenes:

You can check our V-Ray benchmark results where you can see how a specific component performs in comparison to others here. Keep in mind that currently, V-Ray Benchmark doesn't have native support for M1 chips, and the results are through emulation. Our developers are working on adding native support for M1 chips on V-Ray Benchmark and once this is done you will be able to see the results. You can also check this video where we compare the performance between rendering with native support for Appleās M1 chips and using Rosetta. I hope this is of help.Aleksandar Kasabov
