  • VRayDecal available in C4D?

Is VRayDecal available in C4D, or is it too early? - I cannot find it.... if not, is it in planning?

      Hi acidnoid ,
Vray Decal is not available in C4D at the moment.
However, you could still use C4D Projection modes, setting up two materials and having the one on top (the most right material tag) using Flat projection mode.
You could even set up a small gizmo like the one in the video if you prefer adjusting the Projection coordinates that way.
Make sure to un-tick the Tile option for the decal material tag

That's a good hint, thank you.

Decal not needed in vray for c4d. This is achieved thanks to c4d's native material tag organization and layering.

            You're welcome
You can also combine it with displacement and achieve similar to this type of visuals.

              Hi there,

V-Ray Decal is on our to-do list and will be implemented in the future. I will let you know once this happens.

                hi there
i've watching to this post and i wonder how... we can add displacment to a base material (example brick) and displacment to a decal... (for example a crack in a brick)
                imagine something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPW-7HbX-do.
also we all know that the C4D native system is not the same as a decal system (for example exclude projections by angle projection; etc) correct me if i'm wrong...

i know that all c4d v-ray version is re-writen from the begin but i'm always feeling that we are loosing the "train" again...:/
                thanks

The train is a bit delayed but still on track, there is no need to worry about this.

                    Hi Ivan
I know... you know that's always frustrating to see things happening and we always want everything in our render engine
hope to get some news about this topic and others soon
                    all the best

While we are moving full steam ahead here is a vertex map based workflow I can offer. It blends multiple (two or more) displacement maps in a simple layered shader and utilizes the vertex info from the field object as a mask

chaos decals work over more than 1 objects, and has a really great and simple workflow, which makes it quite a "killer feature". i use it a lot in corona c4d, i hope it will make it into vray in near future too

Ya its not the same... thats just a flat projection. Vray decal actually wraps, the whole point of decal is you dont have to mess with uv's. Furthermore you can control the depth of the decal like in keyshot so your little paint splatter doesn't project to the back side of your sphere.

It's a massive feature and huge time saver for people that work with product CAD.
