  • C4D Lighting tool and vray lights

    Hi All!

I was wondering if anyone managed to work out a decent workflow with the c4d built in lighting tool and vray lights? I use the lighting tool every day and i only have a jank way to work around this limitation. I create an area light and i parent a vray light to it so i can use the lighting tool and also export the built in c4d light for compositing.
It would be great if the vray rectangle light would work with this tool!

    Hello akos_kiss,

You can use the c4d lighting tool with V-Ray lights. You will only need to disable the "Modify Lights Only" option in the attributes panel. You can start the IPR to position the light precisely. I hope this is of help.

      Hi @aleksandar.kasabov!

Thank you for the clarification! For some reason i totally forgot to check that. Btw, i just now used it in reverse. IE.: set a light as a child for vray light so i still have the photometric intensity in the viewport, and can roughly see how the lights will affect the scene just in the viewport.

Btw after the latest update. 5.20.03. the lighting tool is a bit broken as the lighting tool doesn't respect the vray rectangle lights Z+ orientation.

          Hello akos_kiss,

Could you please elaborate on this? What strange behavior do you experience? Can you send us a short video recording where you compare the behavior of the Lighting too with a V-Ray light and a standard C4D light? Thank you.
