  • Cloth in Sub D

Hey Guys, one of our clients is wanting blankets on their furniture and if I run the sim with a plane it works. But as soon as I put it into a Sub D to smooth it out it stops working in render. Just wanted to let you guys know

Here's a screen recording of the problem. Haven't tried it on my Windows machine yet, but thinking it'll probably not work there either.

    Hello Brian3D,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

It seems like a bug and I have already reported it to our developers for fixing (bug ID: VC4D-1426). I will notify you as soon as we have any updates on the matter. Thank you!

      Hello Brian3D,

It seems like the issue is in Cinema 4D. The current workaround would be to move the Cloth tag to the Subdivision surface. I hope this is of help.

Appreciate the workaround, but I'm trying to sim at a lower resolution and sub divide after for speed purposes

Hi Brian3D , could you please try to bake the sim as an alembic cache and then put that cache in a sub-d?
I know it's not an ideal solution, but might be a viable workaround for your situation
