              Hi All,
I would like to make a few detailed close ups of a two toned fabric with interesting woven pattern. There are 2 separate shapes in the pattern and they at a diagonal angle.
I'm having trouble creating a seamless pattern as the elements are overlapping and i cant really eyeball the intersection of the patterns. This is probably a simple question but i'm having trouble figuring out a way to create a seamless element. I've attached a simplified image of the pattern.
The two parts have a bit different width and a totally different height.
              • What would be a good approach to find and create a seamless tiling pattern for fabrics like this? Would it be applicable to create two enmesh objects with parts of the structure to make the surface look like intersecting or interwoven elements?
              • How can i create a pattern with two or more materials? As i can tell enmesh doesn't support using the materials from the reference object. The material needs to be applied to the enmesh object as i can tell.
              • sirio76 Could you please share some info on how did you make the two toned part of the twill material shared above? As i can tell the base reference mesh has two materials applied but i don't understand how to can that be transferred over to the enmesh geometry. Also how did you add hair elements to other black/ dark grey fabric above?
              EDIT: i attached the sketch

You need to set the Enmesh crop box like this, then you will get the correct tiling:

To get multiple material you can assign polygon selections to the reference object, for the hair you can use a Vray Fur starting from the same source object you have used for the Enmesh.

                      Hello sirio76,
Thank you so much for the help and the info! I didn't realise that the enmesh object passed through the polygon selection info from the reference object, but it work great!
About the tileing crop. Could you please tell me how did you figure out this crop? should i do this in photoshop?

The tiling pattern seems pretty obvious to me, but probably is just because I need to deal quite often with much more complex patterns.

Photoshop may help when dealing with texture tiling, for 3D meshes I use an array of clones of the original shape and I try to fix the border until I get a tillable mesh.

That one looks fantastic! Setting up the geometry used by Enmesh must have been a lot of work!
