    Hi all,

We tested the scene on different machines and will continue. For now some slight lag was detected.
Highly appreciated will be to define:
    • are in all projects, where the lag is experienced, used materials from Chaos Cosmos or similar with .tx textures
    • if you use default V-Ray material or Material Override with one, is it the same
We have prepared a Google Form to request the needed details and to systematize what is in common.
I will send it to you via PM. Please collaborate on this and let's try to catch the beast!

      ...!
Hi tsvetomira.girginova the scene I've sent you, I've just set up to have something to compare. My PC struggles with this scene, but not so strong as with a real project.
Of course, there are no different materials / textures, no displacement, no bump... no hdri, no 2-side, no carpaint, no layered textures, no filter..... as with a real project. If you setup a scene with all these things, I bet it you will experience stronger issues... or not?
      Thanks for taking care...

        Fully understandable, haniel1107.

The best is simplifying the scenario and targeting possible reasons. Since now we are checking everything as a possible clue in the provided scene, I asked about the .tx textures - there is a logic to be often used since there are promoted in Chaos Cosmos.
You know what exact kind of lag you are experiencing (that's why in the form video is requested), so doing a quick test with Material Override will enlighten a bit will the lag be there or not.
As well as assigning simple reflective material, where no .tx files are involved. And we will start pointing out possible suspects.
Another difference while investigating the scene was that in V-Ray 5 Procedural clouds weren't implemented, but disabling them isn't resulting in a more flawless process compared to the original setup.

As a kind request to all that received the form - please do not underestimate the sharing point at the end.
        Thanks in advance!

          Hello all,

Kind reminder for the filling up the form.
We will appreciate if you collaborate on this matter.

Sharing about .tx usage will be also welcomed.

Hello tsvetomira.girginova, may I ask in generell? Could you produce and experience the issue? From my experience, it is always happening. As example, try to render a complex animation. After a few frames the render speed is still good, but all other functions are like frozen… I would be surprised, if you don‘t experience the issues on your machines…

              Hello haniel1107,

We also managed to reproduce this issue on our end but we are still in the process of investigating and finding what is causing the issue. This is why it is important to collect the necessary information, requested in the form, by as many users as possible. We will update you once we have more information. Thank you.

                Hi all,

Please note that with our latest stable build our developers introduced some fixes and optimizations to improve responsiveness for multithreaded CPUs. If you have the chance, please download and install it (from here) and let us know if those fixes help you with this issue. Your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

edit2: you fixed it! awesome. i can do some modeling while rendering again! thanks guys!

Hi all. Sorry for restarting this thread. But after installing the latest version of Vray my system is unresponsive while rendering.
This only happens while rendering in the picture viewer. If I render via render-manager I have no problems.

Does anyone else have this issue (again)?

                        Best - klex

                          Hello klex167,

Does this only happen during rendering? What about when navigating through the viewport or editing materials? Do you also experience this issue while rendering with the VFB?

Do you experience the unresponsiveness only inside Cinema4D or it also affects other aspects of the OS?

Can you please specify what are the exact versions of V-Ray, Cinema4D, and your OS?

Lastly, as you mentioned that you started experiencing the issue after installing the latest version of V-Ray, have you tried downgrading to a previous version to see if that will help? Thanks.

                            Thanks Aleksandar for the respond.

This issue appears only during rendering. And its the same with the VFB. Even when I'm reducing the render threads the OS is completely freezing and its hard to even move the mouse.
When the rendering stops everything's fine again.

So I downgraded V-Ray to the latest version I used before (v6.00.01). That didn't help at all. BUT downgrading the Cinema 4D Version (from 2023.2.1 to 2023.1.3) helped!! No lack of performance any more!

That means it definitely was the latest version of Cinema that causes the issue in my case. Now I use V-Ray 6.10.00 with Cinema 2023.1.3 and am happy with it.

                            Thank you for the help.

                              Hello klex167,

I am glad to hear that you managed to find a workaround to the issue.

Could you please go to Preferences> Renderer and check if those options are enabled? Do you have any additional plugins installed? If yes, please list them below.

Also, does this happen with a particular scene or any scene? Thank you.

                                Hi aleksandar.kasabov,
sorry for the delay. Yes, "adapt threat priority" and "lower process priority" are enabled. I even lowered the "number of render threads".
This happened with any scene except very simple ones.
The plugin "INSYDIUM" is installed as well.
